 Edwin
Peterson has been responsible for the development, daily operation, management,
and evaluation of Air Force and interservice adult continuing education
and training programs at installation, intermediate command, Major Air
Command, and regional levels for over 35 years. In 1972, he became Chief,
Education and Training, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force
Base, Hawaii. As executive agent for adult voluntary education in the
United States Pacific Command, he is responsible for the largest and most
diverse adult continuing education program in the Department of Defense.
He is responsible for 36 continuing education programs that serve over
120,000 U.S. military personnel and civilian employees throughout the
Pacific. He is also responsible for Pacific Air Forces' technical training,
professional military education, and professional continuing education
programs for over 44,000 U.S. Air Force personnel and the K-12 education
of their dependents.
His many accomplishments,
in a career that began in 1958, have been recognized by many awards and
honors that include numerous achievement awards from the Strategic Air
Command, the Community College of the Air Force, the Adult Education Association
of the USA, Department of the Air Force, and the National University Continuing
Education Association.
